Shamrock Trains is a provider of Gauge O ready to run toy trains, model
railway and similar associated products. We provide a high quality,
professional and personalised service to our customers. We are a highly
knowledgeable operation providing specialist advice to customers around
the world; we believe we are one of the few model railway retailers
to operate in this way. Honesty, integrity, providing value for money
and the highest level of customer care are the principles of our business.

We maintain a strict privacy policy over customer records. We only collect
customer information when the person provides details by telephone or
email or as the result of personal contact at the many specialist events
we attend as a business. We do not use mailing lists of any source.
Collected customer details are only ever used to supply goods to customers
and will never be disclosed to any third party. Computer records are
backed up and housed on to a secure site. We do not maintain customer
financial details as all credit or debit card numbers and details are
immediately destroyed once a transaction has been made. Shamrock Trains
uses the PayPal merchanting system for credit and debit card transactions.
This allows customers with an email address to securely, conveniently
and cost-effectively send and receive payments online and to notify
us of any incorrect information.

Wherever possible our policy is to supply products directly from our
warehouse. Occasionally a selected line may not be immediately available
and new supplies have to be obtained from the manufacturer. As our suppliers
are based all around the world there may be slight delays, from time
to time, in obtaining new stock. In terms of new products coming on
to the market our policy is to inform customers immediately when stock
has arrived either through personal communication or through the Shamrock
trains web site. Shamrock Trains provides a menu of delivery options
through Royal Mail and Parcel Force.
As many of our items are high value it is normally our policy to deliver
next day to an address specified by the customer via a courier that
provides a tracked system and always with adequate insurance cover.
It is the customers’ right to select a less expensive delivery
option that is right for them. It is our normal policy to contact a
customer either by phone or email to ensure that the package has arrived
safely, in good working order and not damaged. A customer can also choose
to collect if they decide at the many specialist events we attend.

Locomotives we supply are test run and coaches and rolling stock are
checked to ensure that they operate perfectly. In the event of damage
in transit we will endeavour to remedy immediately either through repair
or replacing with new stock. Customers’ statutory rights are not
affected. We respect customers’ rights to occasionally cancel
an order they may have placed. It is our normal policy not to take deposits
for orders especially with new product lines. However a manufacturer
from time to time may stipulate prior payment where an order is placed
through Shamrock Trains for a bespoke or customised item or for a limited
edition. In such circumstances refunds will not be payable for cancellation
once an order has been placed. However, every effort will be made to
find an alternative customer and if this proves successful a refund
will then be made.

Many of our products are limited editions and achieve an immediate rarity
value. Our policy is to reflect manufacturer’s recommended retail
prices at all times. We do not sell or dump unsold manufacturer stock.
Most of our product lines sell out and our policy is not to undermine
the market for die cast and tinplate model railways. Previously owned
products sold by Shamrock Trains through this web site will be competitively
priced and will reflect demand for a selected product at any given time.
Our policy is not to create a rip-off culture – we wish customers
to return to us time after time.
